About the Connecticut Community Foundation

Founded in 1923 as the Waterbury Foundation, the Connecticut Community Foundation was the first community foundation in the state.  Through more than 400 funds established by generous donors, they are a major source of grants to non-profit organizations and scholarships to students in a 21-town service area covering Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills.  In 2014, the Foundation awarded $2.4 million grants to area nonprofits and $750,000 in scholarships to area students.  They work with local donors and support nonprofits and students in their communities through the knowledge and expertise of their staff and volunteer committees.
